Y’all, meet Bonnie! Her Christmas wish is to find a forever home that will love her - and only her. ❤️

Bonnie joined the ABTRR Foster Gang early this summer. She was only a few hours away from being killed in an overcrowded shelter when a rescue friend reached out for help. It was a last ditch effort to save Bonnie’s life. Luckily, an ABTRR Volunteer was online and ready to assist late that Friday evening.

Disclaimer – Bonnie is not a BT. She’s what’s often referred to as a “pocket pit”. She’s an American Bulldog/Staffie mix. She’s only about 35 lbs. We didn’t know that at the time, but she is a precious soul worth saving either way.

Within 90 minutes, our team was able to line up a willing foster (who was leaving for vacation), a temp foster to keep Bonnie until the other foster returned, and arrange transport from the shelter, which was a couple hours away. Rarely do things fall into place so easily.

And that’s when things went a little wonky…

After she was pulled from the EU list, we quickly learned that Miss Bonnie Bell is not a BT, nor is she fond of other animals. We were told she was scared of other dogs at the shelter, and she would tremble and cower when other dogs approached her. That often happens with dogs who find themselves in stressful shelter situations, and we’ve successfully dealt with it countless times. Unfortunately, Bonnie exhibited very different behaviors outside of the shelter environment, often acting as the aggressor with other animals (dogs, cats, pigs, etc.). For that reason, she must be an only pet.

Despite her dislike of other animals, Bonnie is an absolute DREAM with people. She’s a Grade A snuggle bug and a total lap dog - as long as she’s the queen bee. Bonnie would make an absolutely wonderful companion for a single pet household, be it an individual, a senior, or a family with older, dog-savvy children. She’s gentle, loving, and a little clownish when she’s the only four-legged family member.

Bonnie is about 5 years old and is located in the North Texas area. She is available for adoption today! We have spayed her, treated her for heartworms, and she’s up to date on vaccinations.

If you're looking for a new best friend and you have no other pets, we hope you'll consider Bonnie Bell. She's the cutest - stout and full of love!

Bonnie was treated for heartworms in July, and we would really love to find her forever home soon. Once we find her adoptive family, they are welcome to take her home. This will be classified as a "pending adoption", and we will finalize everything after she tests negative for heartworms - hopefully when she is retested in January!
